Tournament Octagonal Pentagon 2014: IT BEGINS

Another year, another flurry of blog posts!  This year's Tournament OP is a month away and it's time to get my 40k act together again.  I've been playing practice games to see if my new Catachan force can take on the competition and I'm thinking they are up for the challenge.  But first, I've got to paint some stuff!

Hey there internet, guess who is still alive!

I haven't got any tabletop gaming in a long time, so to build up intrest for myself and my friends I have been throwing together various army lists.  I thought it might be cool to share them on the 'net, so you get to see them too along with some of my thought process!

Team OP 2013, painting update!

That's right, time for an update on my painting progress.  I've managed to get the initial coats of green and metal done on the chimera:

Battlebox Tournament Testing: Day 1

So today was the first day of testing/practice for the upcoming battlebox tournament.
First things first: Here is the rules pack.

Ok, 1:30 AM and I am finally done!  No time for pictures though, you'll have to wait until the tournament is over for those.  Battle begins in seven and a half hours!

Team OP: first unit based!

So today I finished basing my veteran unit.  I did these guys first because they don't really need much in the way of painting, so I figured I would just base them and get that out of the way.

Team OP preperation, update #2

So I've been slowed down a little by things like job finding, car fixing, and procrastination, but I have managed to finish the assembly on my tank and get my plasma guns into the hands of Straken's command squad.  I also have pictures to prove it!

Exams and Slowness

    Oh hi there blog, I guess I haven't been seeing you much.
    Exams are done so it's back to warhammer time.  Today I put a bit more paint on some dark eldar warriors, and I have a third pain token marker in the works.
    The way our glacial (<- pacing, not theme) map campaign works is that you attack with your own armies and some places are defended with random made up armies if they aren't defended by another player's army.  I finally did my second attack with my army and beat those darn Brettonians last week.  It wasn't really a close game, as he was worn down to 1700 points and I had built my army up to a double hydra 2700 point monstrosity.  I ended up charging a 100ish man men-at-arms block with both hydras and a squad of witch elves, and that was basically the game.  I think after Christmas we may have to have a bit of a reform in the rules that speeds the pace up a little.  I also kind of want this thing to end, as I am really more interested in playing 40K right now.
    No pictures in this post, but if everything works out and I stay motivated I'm hoping to finally have the warriors and their raider done by the end of January.

Quick Update

Hey there, looks like this blog has stalled as badly as our map campaign!  Here's a quick recap of all the gaming that has gone on since mythacon:
1) I won an awesome game using my dark eldar against my friend, who was trying out a conversion beamer grey knight list
2) I lost my first attack in the map campaign despite having a 500 point advantage against the defending Brettonians, and failed to defend towns against two different attacking lizardy armies.  When defending, I tried out Skaven (Clan Skyre-ish) and a high elf phalanx and enjoyed both games quite a bit.
3)Midterms!  These are probably the reason we haven't got much map campaigning in over the last couple of weeks.
4)Next weekend is the Winter War tournament at the Sentry Box, and the format for 40K is 1850 point spearhead.  I did a practice game against Chris's space wolves, and just barely lost due to my sentinal finally dying on the last turn.  To prepare for the tournament, I need to paint a few guys, build and paint a manticore, and convert my Gryphon into a Colossus.
5)Skyrim!  This might make it difficult to get everything ready for the tourney, but hopefully I can ignore this game long enough to get stuff done.  I probably played about 24 hours over the course of the long weekend, do I can probably do with a break now.
