Team OP 2013 army background piece

We were asked to submit some sort of theme writing with our army lists in the Team OP tournament.  Here is mine:

Lords of the Schola Progenium, I have urgent need of information on the Adeptus Astartes chapter known as the Knights of the Broken Sword.  Though Colonal Straken has pushed aside my warnings I believe that these Space Marines may be agents of the Great Enemy.  Their armour appears to contain a chaotic mix of different styles and ages, and some even sport horns and the dreaded eight pointed star of Chaos.  The fact that they have the resources to run and maintain a Land Raider is especially worrying, and goes against their claims that they have been away from their manufactorum facilities and forced to scavenge their equipment.
Additionally, I have heard rumours from the men that these heretics have plans to deliver some sort of weapon to Holy Terra itself.  I was unable to determine the name of their leader, as it appears to be guarded by some form of cypher.  This potential threat to the Emperor himself only underscores the importance that this mystery is quickly investigated.
Colonal Straken and the rest of these barbarous Catachans seem only too happy to work alongside the Knights of the Broken Sword, so commissar Varrus and I have been forced to go along with this in order to keep a close eye on the purity and dedication of the men. I will continue to send reports as the Colonal uses, or is used by, these ‘allies’.

Team OP 2013, painting update!

What's this, posts on consecutive days?!?
That's right, time for an update on my painting progress.  I've managed to get the initial coats of green and metal done on the chimera:
Looks a bit streaky, needs more paint.

Something Wicked This Way Comes!

Well, it's that time of year again.  With the second annual Team OP tournament only three days away it is time to resurrect this blog and track some progress.  I'm using a similar list to the one I used last year, except some changes in the allowed army composition have led me to spice things up a bit.

The main difference is that the different spots on the Force Organization Chart have a maximum amount of spendable points, so I was forced to cut down on my heavy support.  Also, there is a mandatory 500 point allied attachment, which will be my Fallen Angel led Chaos Marines.  Without further adieu, here is the list.

Battle in the Streets

To celebrate the end of the semester, my friends and I decided to try out a three way Warmachine battle!  We played the mission in the Collossals book were you have to have the most models in the town square to score a point, and the first to three points won.

My First Warmachine Tournament!

It was November 25th, 2012, and I was beginning my fist 'legit' warmachine tournament ever.  I say legit, in quotations, as I have in fact been in an online warmachine tournament of sorts that I ran with four other friends.  This however was different, it was for real.

Hunt with the Hounds, Howl with the Wolves

I find that the best cure for a prolonged absence of blog posting is a battle report.  Today's offering is a 1500 point bash between my Dark Eldar and Chris's Space Wolves.

Mari0, or why I didn't get any painting done

So I have done absolutely no painting this week.  There are a variety of events I could assign blame to, but I think the most important factor is the introduction of Mari0 to my life.  This free game is basically the classic Mario game with the addition of the portals from the game Portal.

Experiencing Allies

So yesterday night I played my second game of sixth edition.  I was interested in trying out the rules for allies, so I threw together an army list based around the idea of an Imperial Guard artillery force being supported by Space Marines raining down in drop pods.  My opponent also wanted to try out the allies, so he went with the slightly less thematically appropriate combination of Tau and Marines.  We decided that they were from the Exorcists chapter, for maximum oddness.
